Hint! We understand that sometimes you aren’t able to place your order by midnight on Wednesdays – it happens! If you miss the order cut-off for any reason, or if your baby is extra hungry one week and you’ve run out of RATATOUïE’s food earlier than you expected, please call us on 020 7101 4161 or email on hello@ratatouie.co.uk. 6- DOES SOMEONE NEED TO BE HOME TO ACCEPT DELIVERY?

It is highly recommended but not absolutely necessary. We can leave a cooler bag outside your door or in a pre-arranged safe place. There will be enough ice packs in it to ensure it remains below 5C for 5 hours. However please make sure it is refrigerated or frozen beyond this point.

At the worst case we may need to schedule a more suitable time: please kindly contact us on hello@ratatouie.co.uk to discuss if needs be.

7- WHAT ARE OUR RETURNS AND CANCELLATION POLICIES?

You can cancel your order for free up to 2 days before delivery time (see when do I place my order above for details of cut-off times) – however we will have to charge 50% of the purchase price if you cancel after that time and 100% if you cancel on the chosen day of delivery.

We do everything in our power to ensure satisfaction. However, if for whatever reason you're not happy with our products we will offer you a complete refund within 2 days of delivery. Please contact us immediately on hello@ratatouie.co.uk or on 0207 101 4161.

Please see our Terms&Conditions for further information.

Hint! As we are here to serve you, busy parents, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any comments, questions or are not satisfied in any way, shape or form.

We are a young local business, eager to serve you the best we can.  We will develop and perfect our products and services as we go along and your input is invaluable to us.

8- HOW AND WHERE DO WE PREPARE THE FOOD?

The fruits and vegetables used to prepare our meals are organic always, and fresh as much as possible (some might be frozen such as peas for instance). We have designed our menus to follow the seasons and be able to source them locally (read UK) as much as possible. We work very closely with our amazing supplier (Langridge Organic) who fully embraces our vision and is going to great length to make it a reality. They also provide some of our whole fat organic dairy products such as milk, butter, cream and cheese.

We insist on our meat to be organic as much as possible but as importantly, grass fed and/or free-range. Moen&Sons is the perfect provider as their Master Butchers simply select the highest quality products out there. You can visit them directly on the Pavement in SW4.

And finally, Moxons Fishmonger helps us source the highest quality fish that is always ethically sourced as well as local.

We cook every meal in our commercial kitchen on the day of delivery. At the last inspection (April 2017) from the Environmental Health Officer of Wandsworth Council, we were granted Level 5 in Food Hygiene and Safety.

Food will arrive chilled. With every order, you will be given a detailed sheet of storage and preparation instructions. Those are already available on each product description on the website.

9- HOW LONG DOES THE FOOD LAST?

A use-by date will be provided on each jar. The meals must be chilled and can be kept refrigerated up to 48 hours from delivery.  Always check the use-by date on each jar for reference.

They can also be frozen up to 4 weeks from delivery date.

10- WHY DOESN’T OUR FOOD HAVE A LONGER SHELF-LIFE?

We only use natural fresh ingredients and have no use whatsoever of any kind of preservatives, fillers, or colourants. Also we add no salt or sugar which are often heavily used for conservation. Finally, we do not submit the filled jars to any kind of high temperature pasteurization process either. Therefore, our products have a rather short shelf life.  However, they provide your child with optimal nutrition, flavours, colours and scents.

11- WHY DOES YOUR DELIVERED ITEMS LOOK DIFFERENT FROM YOUR LAST ORDER OR FROM THE PICTURE ON PRODUCT PAGE?

Our food is handmade and freshly prepared on each day of delivery. It is also based on fresh ingredients delivered to us on those same day. As a result some variations will occur, all the more than no forms of preservatives are addded to our meals, and that includes salt and sugar.

12- WHY IS OUR PACKAGING MADE OF GLASS JARS WITH PLASTIC LIDS?

We chose glass packaging because:

  • it is proven that it entirely preserves the taste of its contents, as well as its nutritional content.
  • it is considered the healthiest and safest (no risk of chemical interaction and/or food contamination as could be with other materials such as plastic, paper or metal).
  • it is the most environmentally friendly material out there!

Our jars are BPA-FREE, LEAD-FREE, PVC-FREE, PHTHALATE-FREE. They are made of made of very thick glass capable of withstanding very high and low temperatures. However, they are sensitive to temperature shock so make sure you leave them a few minutes at room temperature before submitting them to high temperature such as the oven, microwave or boiling water/steam. DO NOT TRANSFER STRAIGHT FROM FREEZER TO HOT TEMPERATURE. ALL JARS SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY DEFROSTED OVERNIGHT IN THE FRIDGE BEFORE REHEATING.FOOD SHOULD ONLY BE REHEATED ONCE

As food expands when it is frozen, our BPA-free plastic lids will also expand to prevent pressure from breaking the glass jars. Those lids will not react with food or absorb odours and provide a strong seal. They are microwavable and dishwasher safe.

Hint! You can return the jars and lids to us easily (with your next delivery for instance or by dropping them at our kitchen in SW11 3SS) and you will get a 20p refund for each jar with its lid returned.

13- WHAT IS THE VOLUME OF FOOD PER CONTAINER AND AGE RANGE?

  • 6 to 8M - Purees / Diversity begins: 130g
  • 8 to 12M - Mash / Texture begins: 180g (usually about 160g of veg and 20g of proteins, if any)
  • 12 to 18M – Tiny bits / Crush time: 200g (usually about 180g with 20g of proteins, if any) - could be 170g when pasta/rice/couscous/other grains is involved - my 4 year old is more than happy with that much!
  • 18M to 36M+ – Fully textured and soft / Big Baby’s meal: 230g (usually about 200g with 30g of proteins, if any) - could be 200g when pasta/rice/couscous/other grains is involved - my 4 year old can barely eat all that!

14- WHAT ARE THE APPROPRIATE QUANTITIES FOR EACH AGE RANGE?

We have designed our quantities according to the guidelines per meal of health authorities in the UK and in Europe. However, when it comes to appropriate quantities, it is important to always remember that children (unlike us adults) know how much to eat according to their needs, and so from their very first months. Therefore, let’s trust them! If they eat too much at one meal, they will certainly be less hungry when comes the next one. And if you feel that sometimes, they do not eat enough, try not to succumb to the temptation to compensate with snacks before it’s time for the next meal.

Please also note that solid food should never replace milk (breast or formula) as a source of nutrition unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. Always check with your doctor about your baby’s nutritional needs.

15- WHAT IF MY BABY/TODDLER HAS FOOD ALLERGY OR SENSITIVIES?

Our menu includes items free of dairy, eggs, soy, gluten and nuts. However, as we cook to order, please contact us on hello@ratatouie.co.uk after your order is completed to let us know about special requirements. We will then discuss how we could best accomodate.

Also please note that while some of our meals will be free from these ingredients, they are produced in a facility where these ingredients may be used. We provide the full list of ingredients on the website and allergens are highlighted in bold.

Please do not order if your baby or toddler has a severe allergy. Instead reach out to us on hello@ratatouie.co.ukand we will discuss how we could accommodate.
